Dr Cara Southworth, C S Psychology

At C S Psychology, I am dedicated to enhancing the educational and developmental journeys of children and young people up to the age of 25. Based in London, my services extend to families and educational institutions, offering tailored support that is accessible both remotely and face-to-face to suit diverse needs.

My academic background began with a combined sciences degree from Durham University, following the British Psychological Society’s accredited curriculum. I deepened my expertise at UCL, where I completed a Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology. My doctoral thesis investigated the integration of neuroscience into educational psychology, reflecting my interest in how emerging scientific understandings can enhance educational practices.

Before my doctorate, I worked directly with students in a large secondary school and later in a support unit for social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. This practical experience was enriched during my time as a trainee Educational Psychologist in an inner London borough, equipping me with firsthand insights into the complexities of urban education environments.

Since qualifying in 2016, I have developed specialised interests in neuropsychology, executive functioning, grief and bereavement, ADHD, and anxiety disorders. My approach is comprehensive, using detailed assessments to harness each child’s strengths and address their specific challenges.

I believe passionately that every child has unique potential that can be nurtured to aid their learning and development. By creating detailed intervention plans, I aim to provide the right support structures that allow each young person to thrive, enriching their educational experiences and personal growth.
